Webb Simpson is on the hunt for a new caddie.

The 2012 US Open champion has confirmed that he and his right-hand man, Paul Tesori, have split after 12 years working together.

The news comes as something of a surprise. Simpson and Tesori had been considered one of the most rock-solid partnerships on the PGA Tour and, only yesterday, posted their best finish of the season, finishing in a tie for seventh at the Valspar Championship.

However, Simpson’s results of late haven’t been particularly great, with five missed cuts in his last ten worldwide starts.

World No.133 Simpson broke the news on social media.

“This was an incredibly difficult decision for both of us but one that we have thoroughly considered after spending many hours in prayer, seeking counsel from mentors and having countless conversations together,” he wrote.

“Our time together has been truly unforgettable – Ryder Cups, Presidents Cup, a major championship, a TPC win and a career high of fourth in the OWGR.

“I could never have have done this without Paul by my side. Not only has he been my caddie and swing coach but one of my best friends in the world.”

Simpson revealed that Tesori is going to work for the reigning PGA Tour ‘Rookie of the Year’  Cameron Young.

“Paul, Michelle, Alexis, Isaiah and their family will always be part of Team Simpson,” he added. “Their family has become our family and our family has become theirs.”

Simpson’s next start is expected to the RBC Heritage – a tournament he won at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 – taking place at Harbour Town Golf Links in Georgia the week after The Masters.
