Rory McIlroy will head a star-studded field for the Valero Texas Open as some of the world’s best players get ready for the first major of the year at Augusta National.
Plenty of big names have taken the chance to get some tournament practice ahead of their tilt for the Green Jacket at one of the PGA Tour’s most historic events.
McIlroy is joined by the likes of Jordan Spieth, Tommy Fleetwood, Ludvig Aberg, Max Homa and Adam Scott in an impressive field at TPC Antonio.

• Rory McIlroy schedule: When will he play next?
The Northern Irishman last competed in this event in 2022, which is the only time he has played in a tournament the week before the Masters since 2014.
But he has vowed to play more this season to give himself the best chance of ending an almost decade-long major drought ahead of his latest bid at the career Grand Slam.
Last year’s renewal of the Valero Texas Open saw Canadian Corey Conners end a four-year winless run and win his second PGA Tour title.

The bunkered bet
Ludvig Aberg 12/1
It’s incredible to think Aberg makes his major championship debut at the Masters next week. There’s surely nothing like a first trip to Augusta National to focus the mind and he looks primed to contend at TPC San Antonio, near where he went to college at Texas Tech. He finished second at Pebble Beach and eighth in his debut at The PLAYERS last month. His second victory on the PGA Tour isn’t too far away.
