The PGA Tour is heading to Palm Harbour for the Valspar Championship in Florida this week, otherwise known as Sam Burns country.

Burns has won the last two events here, taking over from Paul Casey, who won the two before that. Burns was 17-under-par in both of his last outings here, thanks to eight rounds in the 60s, a record he’ll no doubt love to keep up. Last year, it took a playoff for him to win, where he beat Davis Riley after two holes.

This week it’s not a designated/elevated event, and will be a step down in depth from the field we saw at the PLAYERS Championship. Saying that, Matt Fitzpatrick, Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth are all in the field, so there is still some star power.

Last week’s closing three holes caused plenty of drama, although not enough to trouble a hugely impressive Scottie Scheffler, but Innisbrook’s closing trio could derail a leader. Known as the Snake Pit, the 16th, 17th and 18th are all tough tests, with the par-4 16th playing the hardest hole last year.

The event was established in 2000, when it was originally known as the Tampa Bay Classic. It’s been sponsored by Valspar since 2014.

Here’s the Valspar Championship preview.

The bunkered Bet

Keegan Bradley

The 36-year-old missed the cut last week, but his form apart from that has been pretty solid. If Sam Burns doesn’t win for a third year in a row, expect Bradley to be at the right end of the leaderboard.
