Who has the most points for Europe in the Solheim Cup?

Team Europe can boast having arguably the greatest Solheim Cup player in history, so which player scored the most points?

The inaugural match was contested in 1990, and since then Europe has only won seven of 17 events played against Team USA.

However, four of those victories came with the aid of Europe’s all-time leading points scorer, on her way to becoming a Solheim Cup great.

Europe’s leading Solheim Cup points scorer

The player with the most points for Europe in the Solheim Cup is Laura Davies.

The Englishwoman has not only played in the record number of Solheim Cups, but Davies has also earned a leading 25 points in the process between 1990 and 2011.

Davies’ overall record stands at 22 wins, 18 losses and six halves across 12 Solheim Cup appearances, to lead the total points scored charge.

Born in 1963, Davies won four major championships in her career, while lifting 45 titles on the Ladies European Tour, which is more than any other player to date.

The World Golf Hall of Famer made her Solheim Cup debut at Lake Nona in 1990, and despite her side suffering a heavy defeat, Davies left as Europe’s top points scorer, with two from three.

In the second running of the biennial event, Davies remained the top points scorer for Europe, winning all three possible points, as Europe turned the tide to win the Cup.

Two more victories followed in her time as a player, in 2000 and 2003, before bowing out as the second oldest European player to compete at 47 years and 353 days old.

Over a ten-year period from the initial match, Davies formed a formidable partnership with compatriot Alison Nicholas.

The pair joined forces on nine occasions, the most times of any two Europeans, while claiming five points, thanks to five match wins.

Davies’ experience from her 46 total matches was called upon for vice-captaincy in 2019 and 2021, leading to a third tilt at the role for the 2023 match in Spain.
