He is a multiple Ryder Cup winner and former world No.1, but who is his caddie?

The Englishman established himself as one of the most decorated European golfers of all time whilst plying his trade on the DP World Tour.

Westwood amassed 25 victories on the circuit, as well as claiming two PGA Tour titles before signing for LIV Golf in 2022.

He made the Ryder Cup team 11 times but looks to have forfeited that privilege upon joining the Saudi-backed league.

Lee Westwood’s caddie

Lee Westwood has frequently changed his caddies during his time on the LIV Golf League. In recent times veteran bagman Mick Doran and his wife Helen Storey have been on his bag.

Now recognised as one of the most experienced caddies in the game, Doran has over 30 tour wins and seven Ryder Cup’s on his CV. He has been caddying for over 30 years.

Before joining forces with Westwood, the caddie worked on the bag of some of Europe’s biggest names.

Over the years he has worked alongside Danny Willet, Costantino Rocca, David Howell, Darren Clarke, Thomas Bjorn, Paul Lawrie, Luke Donald, Rory Sabbatini, Francesco Molinari and Eddie Pepperell.

Doran first picked up a bag when he was 12 years old at Wentworth and started working on the (formerly known) European Tour in 1988.

Raised in Egham, Surrey, Doran told the Caddie Network that his best memory in golf was winning the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, a feat he achieved twice.

Doran won there with Constantino Rocca in 1996 before repeating the trick with David Howell ten years later.

Westwood has also had veteran caddie Billy Foster, who now works with Matt Fitzpatrick, on the bag for multiple spells. The English pair split for a final time in 2018 after a decade together.

Meanwhile, the former world No. 1 also gave his wife, Helen, and son Sam caddie responsibilities in recent times.

Sam was on the bag for the Masters and Ryder Cup in 2021 and even said it’s a “negotiation” as to who will be on the bag at certain tournaments.

In 2021, Westwood appeared at the Saudi International with Dr. Steven MacGregor on the bag, but it was a one-off. Now, it appears that Doran is the main man for Westwood’s LIV Golf starts.
