The American is one of the best golfers in the world, so who is Xander Schauffele’s caddie?

A multiple Ryder Cup star for Team USA,  Xander Schauffele has put together quite the CV since turning pro in 2015.

After a promising amateur career, it should come as no surprise to see that the California-born man has claimed over a dozen PGA Tour wins.

Meanwhile, after a handful of near misses, Schauffele got over the line in major championships in 2024, not once, but twice.

Of course, he’s benefitted from having a top caddie alongside him – and someone he’s very comfortable with. Xander Schauffele’s caddie is his close friend Austin Kaiser.

Who is Xander Schauffele’s caddie?

In charge of Schauffele’s bag is his caddie Austin Kaiser. The pair have worked together for several years, as their relationship stretches back well over a decade.

They were part of the same college golf team at San Diego State University, but while Schauffele carved out a playing career, Kaiser became a caddie.

On several occasions Kaiser has spoken about the “emotional attachment” he feels to Schauffele, insisting he would not caddy for any other player – even if the greatest of all time came calling.

“We have a perfect balance of professionalism and friendship,” he told the San Diego Tribune.

“I told him many times, I don’t think I’d work for anyone else.

“If Xander fired me and Tiger or any of those guys came up to me, I wouldn’t caddie for anybody else because I don’t have that emotional attachment.

“It’s like being drafted by your favourite team growing up. You can’t get that with anyone else. I think I have the best job in the world.”

Kaiser has been key to Schauffele’s series of victories, including the 2022 Genesis Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club.

He also helped Schauffele win a gold medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo and his player rewarded him with a special custom-made Olympic ring.

Meanwhile, Kaiser was by Schauffele’s side as he helped Team USA regain the Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits in 2021. Of course, Kaiser remained on the bag for the 2023 Ryder Cup at the Marco Simone Golf Club outside Rome.

Speaking at the 2024 Open, Schauffele re-affirmed his strong relationship with his caddie.

“I’m lucky to have Austin,” he said at Royal Troon. “He’s done a great job. I believe he’s one of the hardest working caddies out here.

“I love when we don’t have much information in a book because I know he’s going to go out there and walk 25,000 steps to get all that info for me.”

It’s estimated that Kaiser earned well over $1 million from the regular PGA Tour season in 2024. A good job if you can get it!
