The Caribbean’s newest golf resort, Apes Hill, has established itself as one of the world’s leading golf destinations in 2023.

The Barbados paradise is situated on one of the highest points on the island, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.

Named ‘2023 Development of the Year’, Apes Hill re-opened at the end of 2022 and is showing no signs of slowing down.

It will be a fully realised resort in 2025, when a 30-room beach resort, spa and beach club open on the waterfront in Hole Town, just 5 minutes away.

Guests will have the choice of staying at villas at the golf resort or on the beach but until then, Apes Hill is allowing residents to benefit from the beach club at the nearby luxury Fairmont Royal Pavilion hotel.

Currently, Apes Hill has ten three-bedroom/three-and-a-half-bathroom Fairway Villas in the rental program for resort lodging.

Most of those sit along the 18th fairway and each comes with a golf cart, full kitchens, indoor and outdoor living areas and plunge pools.

And more properties are on the way as seventeen even more luxurious four-bedroom Hilltop Villas are under construction for addition to the resort in 2024.

It is no surprise, therefore, that Apes Hill was awarded Best Golf Real Estate Venue at the 2023 World Golf Awards in Abu Dhabi.

But the resort also cleaned up in the golf categories, too, winning Best Eco-Friendly Golf Facility; Best New Golf Course Barbados; and Best New Golf Course Caribbean.

Acclaimed golf course architect Ron Kirby was enrolled to help re-do the course, which boasts incredible views, dramatic elevation changes and wide fairways.

In exceptional condition, the course caters to around 30 golfers per day and offers a few reachable par-4s and eagle opportunity par-5s.

There is also a 19th hole, reminiscent of the famous Island Green par-3 at TPC Sawgrass in Florida, which can be taken on from the lawn outside the bar.

The ultimate retreat also offers a new state-of-the-art golf performance centre for lessons, analysis and club fitting that immediately takes its place among the best in the Caribbean.

Meanwhile, a new main restaurant, clubhouse and par-3 nine-hole course are all set to open in December.
