A new 18-hole championship course, called Zitara Golf, has been unveiled in Central Mexico.

Designed by golf course planners Pizá Golf, the track forms the centrepiece of a fresh residential and lifestyle development in Aquacalientes.

The complex offers an area fit for living, working, relaxing, and playing golf, spanning 200 hectares over the master-planned community.

At the heart of Zitara is the par-71 golf course, which nestles through the entire residential community, offering stunning views towards the Pichacho mountain range.

Holes 3, 4, 5, 11, and 15 have direct views of the areas signature backdrop, as the course weaves through the luxury premises.

The course begins and ends at the Bernardo Pozas-designed clubhouse, while it measures 7,000 yards from the back tees, and around 6,500 yards for members.

Three challenging par-5s are on display in the front nine before the back nine places a focus on shorter tests, with as many par-3s on offer.

The last six holes are floodlit, meaning golfers can take to Zitara at night, and none are more intriguing than the 17th which features an island green, akin to TPC Sawgrass.

A modern range experience can be expected on the grounds at Zitara Golf, too. The site features a double-ended driving range, boasting music and firepits, as well as serving food and drink.

Agustin Pizá, President and founder of Pizá Golf, has shared his pride in what the firm’s latest development has to offer.

He said: “We’re exceptionally proud of the golf course at Zitara.

“It will offer its members a world-class experience of beauty, with the emblematic views of Mt. Picacho, a challenge with the combinations of strategic, penal, and heroic holes with undulating fairways, raised fairway bunkers, and plenty of elevation changes.

“I designed Zitara for the members to discover something new or different each time they play the golf course through design nuances.

“I consider this approach an ensemble as each hole interrelates to each other.”

The award-winning architect currently has 14 other golf premises in the Pizá Golf portfolio.
