Troon International appointed to manage Salgados Golf Course

Salgados Golf Course, in the Algarve, will continue to develop as an ‘unparalleled resort’, with the appointment of Troon International.

The leisure and hospitality firm will oversee golf operations, agronomy, and marketing for the venue in Portugal’s golfing hotspot.

Set along the country’s Atlantic Ocean coastline, Salgados boasts an 18-hole, par 72 layout which includes multiple water features.

Located near Salgados Beach and Salgados Lagoon Nature Reserve, the course offers widespread views of the Algarve coast within a nature reserve near Albufeira.

Salgados was originally designed by Pedro Vasconcelos in 1994 but was renovated by Álvaro Mano in 2012 to place an importance on accuracy.

The resort is a popular choice for visitors and locals, with Salgados Palace, Salgados Dunas Suites and Salgados Palm Village all providing luxury accommodation options.

As Salgados prepares to join the Troon family, Troon’s Senior Vice President Ricardo Catarino shared his excitement.

Highgate, a leading hotel management, investment, and development company, which operates Salgados, appointed Troon to enhance course conditions, operational service and financial performance.

Troon has been organically expanding on the Iberian Peninsula over the past couple of years.

Salgados will join a host of Spanish golf clubs, including Las Colinas Golf & Country Club in Alicante, Aloha Golf Club in Marbella, and Finca Cortesin in Casares.

Kitted with a driving range, putting green, chipping green and bunker area, Salgados has an extensive range of facilities to prepare golfers before teeing off.

The club, which runs green fees from €39, also has a pro-shop, restaurant, and bar.
