Emiliano Grillo is back in the winner’s circle with a bag heavy on Callaway equipment.

The Charles Schwab Challenge had it all this week over a difficult course at Colonial Country Club. After two rounds, those sitting at one-over-par or better were through to the weekend, a rare sight in a regular PGA Tour event.

Tough conditions mean good ball striking is required and the eventual winner had that, along with a steady hand on the greens.

What could have been a relatively comfortable victory for the Argentinian became a challenge, as he found the water off the tee, leading to a double bogey. That shot wasn’t the norm throughout the week though, as he found over 61% of fairways.

That helped him to make 19 birdies throughout the week, more than anyone in the field. That, coupled with an eagle on Saturday meant he could afford to make eight bogies and two doubles throughout the four days.

Grillo came up against the American, Adam Schenk in the playoff, where both players made a par on the opening hole. Grillo would eventually clinch the title thanks to an iron shot that went close on the par-3 16th, leading to a birdie.

Although his shot in the playoff was fortunate, throughout the tournament, Grillo was on form with his approach play, gaining nearly five shots on the field, while hitting 66% of greens in regulation in the 72 holes of regulation play.
