Emiliano Grillo overcame a bizarre piece of action on the 72nd hole to win his second PGA Tour title.
The Argentine’s ball found itself in a small stream to the right of the 18th hole at Colonial Country Club, where it floated for what felt like hours.
Eventually, the 30-year-old took a drop from the penalty area and went onto make a double bogey. That left him in a playoff with Adam Schenk, who looked to be too far behind before Grillo’s dramatic last hole.
Despite making it difficult for himself, however, Grillo eventually came through with a birdie on the second playoff hole.

It might not have been his best swing of the day, but the contours around the 16th green left him with a short putt for the title, which he converted, making him the 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge champion.
Although this week wasn’t an elevated event on the PGA Tour, it was still a healthy payday for Grillo, who pocketed over $1.5million. Schenk also picked up a good chunk of cash for his week’s work, with nearly $1million in prize money.
