The FedEx Cup playoffs are officially underway, and the BMW Championship is back for the second leg, as the season winds towards an end.
That doesn’t mean things are slowing down, though, as the action is only heating up ahead of the lucrative event at Olympia Fields Country Club in Illinois.
Less players will feature on the North Course than they did in Wilmington last year, as the format for the playoffs has gone under reconstruction.
Only 50 players make it to the second week this year, rather than 70 who teed it up in the championship last year, as Patrick Cantlay claimed the title by one shot.
But the incentive remains for those after a berth in the Tour Championship the following week, as only 30 players will qualify to compete for the mouth-watering purse at East Lake.
At 43-years-old, Lucas Glover backed up his win at the Wyndham Championship by lifting the St Jude Championship title last week, as the American bids for a third consecutive victory.
The competition will be unrelenting with the very-best field and no midway cut, so here is everything you need to know…

The bunkered bet
Patrick Cantlay 12/1
The American could hardly have been in better form on the PGA Tour this season without winning, but returns to the BMW Championship in search of the hat-trick. The North Course will prove a solid test for the players, and Cantlay can rely on his elite driving and approach play at a place where he has such fond memories. It’s tight at the top of the FedEx Cup standings, and the 31-year-old will be desperate to finish as high as possible ahead of the Tour Championship.
