An incredible final round of 61 helped Viktor Hovland to the BMW Championship over the weekend, here’s the rundown on the clubs he used.
The Norwegian produced one of the most impressive rounds of 2023, which included a 28 on the back nine. Hovland made the turn on Sunday with a steady if unspectacular front nine of 33, before turning on the style on the way home. Eight threes and a four on his closing nine gave him a two-shot win over Scottie Scheffler and Matt Fitzpatrick.
It was the world No.1 who looked to have the tournament in his hands, but a final round of 66 wasn’t enough to keep Hovland at bay.
On the final day, Hovland gained nearly eight strokes on the field average from Olympia Fields. From tee to green alone he was nearly five shots better than the field average.

Over the four rounds, Hovland was superb from the tee box. He averaged over 300 yards with the help of his Ping G425 LST driver, a club which has been in the bag for well over a year.
Hovland also games a TaylorMade Stealth Plus fairway wood, which is set at 16.5°. In the past, he had then gone to a 7-wood, but this week favoured a 3-iron to bridge the gap between woods and irons.
The 25-year-old is gaming a Titleist U505 driving iron, before moving into the Ping i210 irons from a 4-iron to pitching wedge. Those clubs certainly performed well in Hovland’s hands, with his final approach shot on Sunday with his pitching wedge epitomising his performance throughout the week.

In the wedges, it’s an all Ping line-up, with the Glide 4.0s in the 50° and 56°, while he has the Glide 2.0 in the 60°.
Finally, Hovland’s putter is the Ping PLD DS 72 Prototype, a shape which is quickly becoming synonymous with the man who heads into the Tour Championship in second place.
