As the LIV Golf League prepares to stage the fourth event of its second season in Adelaide this week, one of its players has criticised its schedule.

Aussie ace Jed Morgan, part of Cam Smith’s Ripper GC team, believes there are not enough events to play in, and has described the current set-up as “frustrating”.

In an interview with news.com.au, Morgan said: “There’s obviously quite a bit of time off with the LIV stuff at the moment, which is a little bit frustrating.

“Part of being a good golfer is playing a few tournaments in a row, and getting some form that way. I think a lot of the guys would like to see it grow to 18 events, but that’s from a young guy speaking. Others might like 14.

“You probably need to play a few more events each year to keep yourself sharp.”

Morgan has played in all three LIV Golf events so far this season. After finishing 43rd in the curtain-raiser at Mayakoba, he wound up 47th and 26th in Tucson and Orlando respectively.

The 23-year-old also revealed that he believes that the LIV Golf League needs to start receiving world ranking points in order for the Official World Golf Ranking to remain credible.

The league applied for points last year but no decision has yet been reached, much to the consternation of many aligned to the new Saudi-funded enterprise and its growing band of supporters.

“If they don’t change that in the future, and LIV does everything right (to be awarded points) the world ranking system’s broken,” said Morgan, the current world No.384.

“It’s actually already broken. It’s already pretty screwed up.”

The LIV Golf Adelaide event takes place at The Grange Golf Club from April 21-23.
