The PGA Tour is in Mexico this week, and the world No.1 is in town.
Jon Rahm heads the field for this week’s Mexico Open, as the Masters champion comes to Vidanta Vallarta to defend his title.
This week isn’t a designated event, and with a fairly full-on schedule around the first major of the year, a lot of the bigger names are skipping this trip to Mexico.
The man who you would expect to be Rahm’s closest challenger this week is world No. 16 Tony Finau, who comes into this week on a steady, if unspectacular run of form. Finau was joint runner-up to Rahm last year, along with Kurt Kitayama and Brandon Wu.

The course is a Greg Norman signature design that opened in 2016, and certainly wasn’t an easy test for the players. Rahm got to 17-under-par, but those who got to two-under after Friday were in for the weekend.
This is the second time the Mexico Open has been on the PGA Tour. Before that, it was a regular fixture on the PGA Latin American Tour, as well as what is now the Korn Ferry Tour and has been played since 1944.
Here’s the full Mexico Open preview.

There’s one name that everyone will look to this week, but there’s not much value in Jon Rahm. If you want a good each way bet, the Englishman is in steady form and finished nine-under-par here last year.
