Ready for more off-season fun? Then you’re in luck!
This week is the PNC Championship, which is held at Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. It’s the mother (and father) of all off-season events, with no OWGR or FedEx cup points to worry about. Instead, the tournament’s slogan, Celebrate Family, is the kind of vibe you can expect.
Saying that, these are professional golfers we’re talking about, so there’s still plenty of competitive juices flowing. The biggest draw will, of course, be Team Woods, made up of Tiger and Charlie. It’s their third straight appearance at the event in Florida.
Last year, they were runner-up to Team Daly, which consists of the 1995 Open champion and his son, John II.
You might think that PNC stands for Parent ‘N’ Child, but that’s not quite the case. PNC provide financial services, and have sponsored the event since 2012. It was previously known as the PNC Father/Son challenge. That became the PNC Championship in 2020. It’s also operated in partnership by IMG and NBC Sports.
The players compete for the Willie Park Trophy over two days and 36 holes in a scramble format.
