The Match is set to return featuring Tiger Woods alongside Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas, according to reports in the US.

As reported by the Fried Egg, the exhibition is provisionally scheduled for December 10 at Pelican Golf Club near Tampa.

Its return marks the latest in a succession of made-for-TV clashes, beginning with Woods facing Phil Mickelson for $9million in 2018.

Further editions have included the likes of Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau.

The latest edition takes place a week after the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas, which is hosted by Woods.

If the reports are confirmed, it would cast doubt on the likelihood of him playing in his own event given his ongoing struggles with the injuries he sustained in last year’s car crash.

However, it has been suggested he could make use of a cart for the Match. He has previously sworn never to use one in a competitive round.

Should the event go ahead, it would most likely involve Woods and McIlroy taking on Spieth and Thomas.

It has also been reported that it will take place under floodlights.

Further details, such as which network the event will be broadcast on, have not yet been announced.
