There is a record $25million up for grabs at this week’s PLAYERS Championship, with the top-five finishers all set to walk away with seven-figure cheques.

The winner of the PGA Tour’s flagship tournament will bank an eye-watering $4.5million. That’s $900,000 more than Cam Smith earned for his victory at TPC Sawgrass last year and TEN TIMES what Nick Price pocketed after his win in the tournament 30 years ago.

The PLAYERS Championship prize money has doubled in the last four years and is a far cry from the $250,000 that was available at the first edition of the championship in 1974.
