On August 4, 2013, world No.1 Tiger Woods was celebrating victory at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, his fifth win of the season and his eighth in the tournament’s 15-year history.

Since then though, it’s all gone downhill. The 39-year-old is currently ranked No.62 in the world, his lowest since 1996, and after withdrawing from the Farmers Insurance Open last week with back pain, Woods announced yesterday on his official website that he’ll be taking an indefinite break from the game.

August 8, 2014

Returns to play in the US PGA Championship at Valhalla the following week but misses the cut with a pair of 74s. It’s just Tiger Woods’ fourth missed cut in majors as a professional and his second in his last 11 starts.

Releases a statement on his official website revealing he will be taking an indefinite break from golf, saying he needs to work a lot on his game after a “very disappointing” two weeks. Says he would like to compete at the Honda Classic on February 26 but hints it is unlikely unless his game is “tournament-ready”.
