The bunkered Bet

Patrick Cantlay 16/1

As ever, this year’s US Open is set to be a brutal test and those still ironing out issues with their game are bound to find trouble at the Los Angeles Golf Club. But Cantlay, the world No.4 has been trending in the right direction in his game for some time. He has made the top 15 in both majors this year and is coming into this tournament fresh having skipped the Canadian Open.

A new course on the USGA’s roster will throw up an exciting challenge, but Cantlay is highest ranked in the total driving stats this season and that bodes well on a course where tournament organisers are predicting “numerous birdie opportunities” with good position off the tee.
