Hitting a flop shot will never be easy, but Parker McLachlin, AKA the Short Game Chef, can help you pull it off.
The former PGA Tour winner and short game guru is one of the best accounts to follow for those looking to take their game around the greens to the next level.

In this video, McLachlin shows a couple shots from a recent outing on the PGA Tour, where he played high, soft shots from just off the green, with excellent results.
While this might not be the percentage shot, there are times when it can certainly be useful, and McLachlin explains how to hit it here.
“It’s a really difficult shot, but if I can give you the right ingredients, you can hit this shot too,” he explains.
“Both of those shots, I didn’t hit the ball perfectly, I actually hit the ground before I hit the ball.”
McLachlin, who has played twice on the PGA Tour this season, is referring to two shots he hit earlier in the year.

“I’m not hitting the ball first here, I’m using the bounce of the club to enter the ground and then hit the ball.
“I set up extremely open with this clubface, using the forward flight line to guide me on that. My feet are not very far apart, but I’m going to go a little closer to it.
“I don’t want to get further away from it, that might give me a little bit more loft, but it’s also going to engage the heel. I don’t want that on this tight lie.

• Emily Pedersen’s four keys to longer drives
“I want to make sure that my hands are a little higher, I want to get my backswing going longer, so that I can have time to release the club.”
Of course, he then goes on to fly his ball to the side of the hole with ease.
This might not be your go-to shot around the greens, but if you have it in the bag, you never know when it might come in handy.
