• Jason Day hailed by Jordan Spieth after another remarkable win
• The Aussie bounced back from three poor chip shots on the ninth
• Players win is Day’s seventh PGA Tour win in the last ten months
Jordan Spieth paid tribute to Jason Day after the Aussie recovered from a nightmare ninth hole to go wire-to-wire at the Players Championship for his seventh win in ten months.
Starting the day with a four-shot lead, the 28-year-old reached the turn with that lead halved after his bogey at the ninth – which included three poor chip shots in a row.

And Spieth hailed the importance of his bogey save on that hole, as it propelled to a three-under-par back nine as he finished the tournament four shots clear of Kevin Chappell to further strengthen his position as world No.1.
JDay bogey putt on 9 was possibly most underrated shot of the day.. Gathered emotions knocked it in and led to a clutch back nine.Great win!

How Day won it
As Spieth mentioned, Day’s back nine recovery was remarkable and despite his three poor chip shots at the ninth, he erased that from his memory immediately and his short game went back to being razor sharp for the remainder of the round.
Here’s one particular shot on the 16th.

What they said
Jason Day: “I’ve never been more motivated to be No. 1 in the world. I’ve never been more motivated to try to extend that lead from one to two. All the hard work that I’ve put into my game right now has paid off, but I’ve got to keep working hard to win as much as I can.”
Adam Scott: “Well, that’s Tiger-esque, that kind of a run. I try to imagine how good Tiger felt just playing about five years into his pro career having won like 50 events, and imagine how you’d feel confidence-wise, and Jason must be kind of feeling something like that at the moment.”
Justin Thomas: “I was excited to get on a championship-type venue and a great field like this and obviously today went really well, so I was happy to end on a high note.”
