Tiger criticises former swing coach for decision to pen book
Mercenary: Tiger suggested Haney’s decision to pen a book about their time together is motivated by money
Tiger Woods has criticised former swing coach Hank Haney for his decision to pen a tell-all book about their period working together.
In a telephone interview with ESPN’s Bob Harig, the scandal-strewn star questioned the principles of the coach with whom he worked during six of his 14 major championship triumphs.
“I think it’s unprofessional and very disappointing,” Woods told ESPN.com. “Especially because it’s someone I worked with and trusted as a friend.
“There have been other one-sided books about me, and I think people understand that this book is about money. I’m not going to waste my time reading it.
“I just think this book is very self-serving.”
In response to Woods’ criticism, Haney suggested his former charge should wait to read the content of the book before hitting out.
“The Big Miss is golf history. I observed greatestness and am asked about it all the time. I wanted to share it in a fair and honest way,” Haney said via his Twitter account.
The book is entitled ‘The Big Miss’, which Haney has said is a reference to, “missed opportunities we both experienced.” Ghost-written by Jaime Diaz, it is due to hit shelves on the eve of the first major of the year, The Masters.
