So two drivers worked a treat at Augusta in 2006, but come 2013 and Phil was once again searching for answers from the tee.

In his quest to claim another green jacket and find some fairways, Phil went to Callaway and asked them to build him a club that would fit in between his driver and brand’s incredibly long, low spinning X Hot fairway wood which had just been released.

The result was the Callaway X Hot Phrankenwood. An 8.5˚, 250cc, 45″ long 2-wood-like abomination.

The driver was tossed by the wayside and Phil proceeded to utilise this monster around Augusta to great effect. Despite not claiming another Green Jacket, he did rank inside the top-10 in driving accuracy. Pretty astonishing for someone so famed for hooks and slices from the tee.
