The Ping Blueprint irons have had a great start on tour, with Matt Fitzpatrick winning with them towards the end of 2023 But what makes these irons so popular? Let’s get into it.

The First Look

Well, with that stunning 8620 carbon steel, they’ve both got that classic Ping look and feel to them.

You have a sleek muscle back design in the T and a brilliant–looking cavity back iron in the Blueprint S. They tick all the boxes in the looks department, but how do they differ? Let me explain.

The Tech

The Blueprint S is a forged cavity-back design with a compact shape, thin topline and minimal offset, which makes it very easy on the eye.

The forged 8620 carbon steel head is very clean with the classic hydropearl 2.0 chrome finish. An elastomer insert is concealed in the pocket of the irons delivering the solid feel and sound you expect from a Ping club. The toe screw and shaft tip weight can be dialled in for improved swing weight. The Blueprint S features a Precision Pocket Forging which is a pocket forged into the cavity of the 3, 4 and 5 irons. The pocket saves 10 grams of weight, which is reallocated to increase the MOI and optimise the centre of gravity for more distance and better trajectory control.

The Blueprint T is aimed at the highly skilled golfer. Like the S, it is made from 8620 carbon steel but has been designed as a single piece. This design allows for a premium finish but also delivers a great look and workability for a superior control and feel. Their design concentrates mass through the impact zone to ensure a pleasing sound and feel with the workability to take on any shot.

A shorter heel-face height allows the hosel to blend smoothly into the top line, creating a clean appearance at address. The narrow soles deliver consistent turf interaction from all conditions.

Precision-milled grooves ensure the preferred launch and spin for players who rely on pinpoint control. A high-density toe screw and tip weight provide precise swing weight control and a slight boost in MOI.

Ping never disappoints when it comes to irons, and these are really very good. The workability in the Blueprint S is brilliant.

With the feel, the sound and the looks, I can see why these went into a lot of player’s bags very quickly. They are really easy to shape the ball with and they really glide through the turf.

The distance and control is consistent and with the added forgiveness with the precision pocket in the longer irons, they’re easier to hit. The Blueprint T is everything you want in a blade for a high skilled player. The control and spin is brilliant and the toe screw just adds that hint of forgiveness and stability.

What is great about both irons is they would work as a combo set, and you could even add the i230s for that extra levels of forgiveness. I think it’s safe to say we will see victories from the Blueprint irons in 2024 and these will be very popular with top level players.
