PXG has launched their new 0317 T iron, so we got our hands on it and put it to the test.

PXG are known for their distinctive looks when it comes to golf clubs but the new 0317 T iron not only catches your eye in looks, but you’ll also be very impressed by its performance.

The first thing you will notice with the PXG 0317 T is not only does it look great, but it doesn’t scream at you: ‘I’m a player’s distance iron!’

It is quite subtle in its three-times forged hollow body shape, it’s not chunky or bulky and it has a great tour-friendly shape to it.

The 8620 soft carbon steel head is precision milled front to back with the hollow body featuring S COR polymer fill, which delivers great spin and consistency.

Internally, there is the new tungsten weight which is located in the toe which helps increase MOI and delivers great feel from the middle of the face.

Some player’s distance irons tend to make mishits fly around a club further, but I found with these that they were extremely consistent no matter where the strike was.

The 0317 T iron was extremely consistent in distance and dispersion. When I hit this club from the centre, catch it slightly thin, toward the heel or the toe, the distances were still within three-to-five yards of each other.

The other thing I liked was how easy it was to shape shots. You can flight it lower or higher, hit fades or draws with ease and still have consistency in distance and dispersion.

The PXG 0317 T is a great iron for a low handicap player if they’re looking for a little bit of forgiveness. But, it’s also a great transition club for a mid-handicap player who is looking for something with a bit more workability.

The PXG 0317 T iron is brilliant. Perfect for elite level players and a great option for low to mid-handicappers.

The consistency and dispersion on each strike were very impressive and I’ll be honest, this is one of the best player’s distances irons I’ve hit.

RRP: £189 per club
