• Football stars on hand to cut the ribbon at High Legh Park GC
• Jordan Niebrugge visited before Silver Medal win at the Open
Leading UK golf retailer American Golf has opened its National Academy, with football stars Shay Given, Gareth Barry and Kevin Kilbane on hand to cut the ribbon.
Situated at High Legh Park GC near Knutsford, the academy boasts state-of-the-art facilities which are ideal for any golfer looking to improve their game.
With PGA professionals in store, some of the UK’s best coaches on the range and the latest golf equipment, the academy provides a perfect environment and Stoke City goalkeeper Given is suitably impressed.
“Having the best facilities, the right coaches and the latest technology will help anyone who is looking to improve their game, whatever the sport,” said Stoke City goalkeeper Given. “The American Golf National Academy provides all those things in one place and gives golfers of all abilities a great chance to improve.
“Now I’m back in the North West I’ll certainly be looking to make the most of the facility and knock a few shots off my handicap!”
As well as the famous faces of the footballing world heading down to the academy’s grand opening, it has also been visited by a rising star of golf in recent weeks, with Open Silver Medal winner Jordan Niebrugge heading to the facility to see resident coach Damian Taylor.
“I had Jordan in here just before final qualifying to fine tune a few things and he’s had the best couple of weeks golf of his life,” explained Taylor. “Working with the team at the academy has been great and the facilities on offer in the coaching bays are second to none.
“Next week I’ve got an absolute beginner coming in to take their first swings of a club so whatever the level, the facilities and coaches at the American Golf National Academy are ideal for any golfer who wants to improve.”
With nine and 18-hole golf courses, a driving range, a coffee shop, a soon to be opened children’s course and an American Golf store, the American Golf National Academy has everything a golf enthusiast could want.
“We have PGA pros, the latest technology for swing analysis and fitting, nutritionists and physical trainers to help golfers reach their peak condition and the very best equipment available so that every aspect of performance is optimised,” said American Golf head of marketing Daniel Gathercole.
“If it’s the first time you pick up a club or are playing on the European Tour, the American Golf National Academy has everything in place to help improve your game. And for anyone who just wants to blast some balls on the range or have a casual knock, we even cater for that too!”
