Brendon Todd, when asked why more and more inexperienced players are winning on the PGA Tour answered: “Tiger’s not playing.”

“I think there is a lot of good players in golf right now.  I think that’s sort of how it always was before Tiger came around, wasn’t it?”

However, Todd deserves more credit than he gives himself. The American finished 14-under for the tournament and won by two shots from major winner, Mike Weir and Charles Howell III – no easy task.

When Brendon Todd looks back on his win he will no doubt point to his razor sharp short game as the defining factor.

“Incredible short game, saved me time and time again.” He said

Todd holed out from a greenside bunker, hit a chip shot left handed, and scrambled all week long to earn the Byron Nelson Championship – his first on the PGA Tour

“With the hole out on 2 and the up and down on 3 and the left hand shot on 13.  It was an amazing day.”

“Playing on the PGA TOUR when you’re young is a dream and to win out here is really special.”

Brendon Todd fought off some of the tour’s most inform players to claim the championship, a feat made all the more impressive by his bogey-free final round 66.

Mike Weir, Charles Howell III, Matt Kuchar and Dustin Johnson all finished in the top-ten, but it was the inexperienced Brendon Todd who clinched the championship.

“Playing on the PGA TOUR when you’re young is a dream and to win out here is really special,” he said.

“It’s taken a little while but now that I’m here, it’s a dream come true.
