Frustrations boiled over as Jon Rahm battled to make the PGA Championship cut, but the red mist truly descended at a rain-sodden Oak Hill on Saturday.
The Masters champion headed to Rochester knowing victory in the second major of the year would set up a shot at a career grand slam at Royal Liverpool in July.
Instead he was left seething with a monstrous golf course that he had been so hotly tipped to tame.

“Great hole, PGA. Great f***ing hole,” Rahm fumed after his flushed shot bounded through the green at the brutal 245-yard par-3 11th on Friday.
His anger was somewhat understandable given he was cruelly punished crushing an iron shot into the centre of the green and finishing in the heavy rough.
The salvaging two-under score of 68 when Rahm was reaching boiling point to make the weekend was evidence of his Basque grit.

But when it rains it pours and Rahm’s week was not about to get any better on Saturday as the soaked Spaniard shanked a chip shot from the rough on the par-3 fifth.
In horrendous conditions, Rahm snapped after his ball connected with the hosel of his wedge on the side of the green.
He took his anger out on an on-course microphone, slamming his wedge hard into the ground.

And just three holes later on the eighth, Rahm’s frustration turned towards an ESPN camera operator during a live broadcast.
“Stop aiming at my face when I’m mad, it’s all you guys do,” Rahm was heard telling the cameraman.
The only good news was Rahm was able to get home and dry early and ditch the umbrella on Saturday afternoon, but he will surely not be contending in Sunday’s final round after carding a two-over 72 to reach the clubhouse at plus six.
