Tiger Woods is being taken to court by his most recent girlfriend, according to reports in the US.

TMZ and the New York Post are reporting that Woods’ apparently ex-partner, Erica Herman, wants a non-disclosure he reportedly made her sign at the start of their relationship to be nullified.

Indeed, TMZ claims to have acquired court papers that show Herman accusing the 15-time major champion of trying to “aggressively enforce:” the NDA she was allegedly made to sign around 2017.

“In the paperwork, Herman says a private trust that Tiger runs is attempting to steamroll her into keeping quiet about their relationship by aggressively enforcing the NDA she signed,” says the TMZ report.

“She argues in her legal docs the NDA should be declared unenforceable under the federal Speak Out Act, which prohibits the enforceability of an NDA agreed to before a dispute arises involving sexual assault or sexual harassment.”

Neither Woods nor his team have so far responded to the TMZ report.

The news comes as a huge shock, not least because Woods and Herman have not made any public announcement on their relationship status.

They were last photographed together at the US Open tennis event at the end of August 2022.

Woods made his first start on the PGA Tour in seven months at the recent Genesis Invitational, where there was no sign of Herman.

Whilst he impressed with his performance on the course – defying most commentators’ predictions by making the cut – Woods caught heat during the tournament for handing playing partner Justin Thomas a tampon after out-driving him during the first round.

His subsequent apology was met with a stinging public rebuke from Olympic legend Michael Johnson, who branded the former world No.1 “teflon”.

“Still heralded after all the mistakes so he’s learned nothing,” wrote Johnson. “Media focus always on miraculous recovery. Never why the need for recovery.”

Who is Erica Herman?

Tiger Woods and Erica Herman have reportedly been together since 2017. She previously worked at Tiger’s restaurant, The Woods, in her native Florida.

They were first spotted together at the 2017 Presidents Cup, where Woods served as one of Steve Stricker’s assistant captains.

Herman has regularly been seen in public with Woods and has often attended events in which he has competed. She was by his side as he won his last most recent major championship at the 2019 Masters.

She also accompanied him to the White House in May that year when Woods received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and was present when he was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in March 2022.
