An unnamed bettor has won a reported $3MILLION after correctly predicting Scottie Scheffler’s PLAYERS Championship victory.
Scheffler, 26, romped to a five-shot victory in the PGA Tour’s flagship tournament.
In doing so, he sealed a sixth title on the US-based circuit, returned to world No.1 and he joined Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus as the only players to hold The Masters and The PLAYERS at the same time.
He also banked a cool $4.5million – a sum almost eclipsed by a fan who lumped a bet on him to win at TPC Sawgrass.

According to Ben Fawkes of The Sports Betting Network, one gambler wagered $300,000 on Scheffler to win The PLAYERS at offs of 10-1 before the tournament got under way.
The American’s win landed the lucky bettor an extraordinary $3million. That’s more than Tyrrell Hatton won for finishing second.
The payout dwarfs the $1.2million won by another bettor, James Adducci, on Tiger Woods’ 2019 Masters victory.

Meanwhile, Scheffler himself added that he believes his best yet to come – and that he’s excited to get to Augusta National next month to defend his Masters title.
“I feel like I’m improving,” he said. “I’m definitely learning more and more the more you can get into contention and be in the moments.
“I would say that’s probably the most valuable thing is knowing what you feel like and being able to prepare for it.

“Going into the Masters, it’s going to be a fun week. Champions Dinner, there’s going to be a lot of fun stuff that I get to do that week, but by the time we tee it up Thursday everybody starts at even par.
“I get excited for a good hard test. I feel like that I can find a way to make pars and hang in there. This week, I think I had five bogeys for the whole week. Around this place that’s really, really hard to do and that’s probably what I’m most proud of is just playing so solid.”
