Bio Kim banned for “birdie”
At the start of October, the Korean Tour banned Bio Kim, the leading money winner on the tour for the year to that point, after he gave a middle-finger salute to a spectator. Kim, 29, was angered after the fan’s phone made a noise during his downswing in the final round of the DGB Financial Group Volvik Daegu Gyeongbuk Open. The Korean PGA said he had “damaged the dignity of a golfer with an etiquette violation and inappropriate behaviour”. The ban was later reduced on appeal to one year.
