He’s long been among the PGA Tour’s most established players – but who is Keegan Bradley’s caddie?

Bradley is a multiple winner on the circuit and will always be remembered for winning the 2011 PGA Championship on his major debut.

Then a rookie, the American took the golf world by storm. He defeated fellow underdog Jason Dufner in a play-off at the Atlanta Athletic Club.

To this day, he remains one of very few players to taste glory in their first ever major start.

At that tournament, Bradley had Steven “Pepsi” Hale on the bag, a calming influence who remained his caddie up until 2016.

But he now works with another veteran looper – so here’s an insight into his current bagsman.

Keegan Bradley’s caddie

After splitting with caddie Steven Hale during a difficult run of form, Bradley turned to his current caddie Scott Vail.

Vail is an experienced looper who has had huge success on the PGA Tour, even before working with Bradley.

He was the longtime caddie of Brandt Snedeker, partnering up with the US star to win multiple tour events, including the 2012 FedEx Cup.

And after a short stint on 2016 Open champion Henrik Stenson’s bag, Vail assumed the full-time position as Keegan Bradley’s caddie.

He could have perhaps looked for a career in ice hockey before becoming a caddie, as he is the son of former ice hockey player Eric Vail, a veteran in the National Hockey League (NHL).

But he took up golf at the Oshawa Golf Club in Canada and began his caddying career on the Canadian Tour and Korn Ferry Tour.

Vail is now a veteran on PGA Tour, though, and has been hugely credited by Bradley for his success.

After winning the ZOZO Championship in 2022, Bradley said: “My caddie, Scott Vail, is a major part of where I’m at right now in winning this tournament. I’m so lucky to have him on my team, on my side.

“To be able to share wins like this with somebody that you like as a friend is even more special. I’m so thankful for all the work he’s done for me and having him on my side.”

The pair were still working together in 2024 and Vail was on the bag for Bradley’s win at the BMW Championship.

While he was a captain’s assistant at the Presidents Cup, Vail could be on the bag at next year’s Ryder Cup, despite Bradley possibly being a playing-captain.

When Bradley was named as the 2025 Ryder Cup captain, he called Vail to break the news.

However, it followed a blunt text at 7am, leaving Vail fearing he was about to be sacked. Luckily, it didn’t turn out that way.
