The American has a reputation for being one of golf’s best performers on the big stage, but who is Brooks Koepka’s coach?
A multiple winner on the PGA Tour, DP World Tour and LIV Golf, there is no debate that Koepka is a prolific winner. Where the Floridian has impressed the most, though, is in golf’s ‘big four’.
Koepka has hoisted the U.S. Open and PGA Championship trophies on several occasions, and he has a team of experienced coaches carving one of golf’s most feared swings.
Born in 1990, Koepka has relied on veteran short game coach Pete Cowen to work his magic.

Despite making his move to the Saudi-backed LIV Golf league in 2022, Koepka has not lost an inch of his ability. He became the first major champion to play on LIV, when he lifted the Wanamaker Trophy at the 2023 PGA Championship.
Before working with Cowen, Koepka had the famous Claude Harmon III in his team, but the pair split in 2021. They had been working together since 2018, but he told Golfweek: “I love Claude, we had a great run and he’s still family to me, but unfortunately we’re not working together anymore.”
Since then, Koepka has sought the advice from Pete Cowen for his swing. As he appointed Cowen, he said: “Pete is obviously one of the best coaches ever, in my opinion,” so clearly he values his teaching.
The English coach has worked with a host of other top players throughout his career, including Lee Westwood, Henrik Stenson and, for a short time, Rory McIlroy.

Recognised as one of the worlds most successful golf coaches, Cowen was a former tour champion himself, but has since coached players to over 250 PGA Tour titles and over a dozen major championships.
Koepka’s coach established his reputation whilst Head Professional at the prestigious Ryder Cup venue Lindrick Golf Club, where he left in 1997 to pursue full time coaching.
After Koepka won at Oak Hill in 2023, Cowen said: “He will win a lot more.
“I certainly think he will go another four and he would obviously like a grand slam. Look at how many times he has been second or just missed out already. I thought he was an unbelievable player in 2018-2019 and he has got stronger.”
And before the 2024 PGA Championship, Cowen told the Telegraph about a lesson he gave Koepka that has worked in the past.
“I told him to stop whinging and to just get to work on the issue,” Cowen said. “Again, that’s the sort of thing that triggers him. I gave him a b******ing before he won his first Major (the US Open) seven years ago.
“He’s put in the hours and turned it around on the greens since then and with Valhalla being a big boys’ course, I can see him, at the very least, contending.”
Meanwhile, much of Koepka’s work to return to fitness after knee injuries can be attributed to Koepka’s physical therapist Marc Wahl. Meanwhile, Koepka has a putting coach in his team, named Jeff Pierce.
