Henrik Stenson’s successful defence of the DP World Tour Championship didn’t just bring the curtain down on the 2014 European Tour season – it also brought to an end bunkered Fantasy Golf ’14.

The Dubai event was the last of 51 events that counted towards the biggest and best edition of our Fantasy Golf competition to date.

It was fitting that the contest should climax in the UAE, too, as the overall winner of the competition will be soon be jetting there with a partner for a week’s holiday courtesy of bunkered and Golf Kings.

That lucky individual is Ian Trow, whose team Meglew finished just 33.58 points ahead of runner-up David Garrick and his side 10 Good Men.

David Macfarlane and his side Broomhandle Never Misses were another 14.78 points adrift in third place.

Thousands of people signed up to play in this year’s competition, which this year included the option to make changes to your team on a weekly basis.

“I can promise you that next year’s bunkered Fantasy Golf will be even bigger and even better.” – Bryce Ritchie

“There is no question that bunkered Fantasy Golf ’14 was the most successful edition of the competition that we have ever run,” said bunkered editor Bryce Ritchie.

“The option to make weekly substitutions was hugely successful and clearly struck a chord with our players. The fact that the majority of those who finished at the top end of the leaderboard used their transfers regularly shows that there is much to be gained from paying close attention to both the PGA and European Tours, as well as your own team.”

He added: “Congratulations to Ian, who I am sure will have a fantastic time in Dubai. Part of his prize includes season tickets to the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, where he will hopefully see Scotland’s Stephen Gallacher win the event for a third time running.

“Thanks, too, to all who played this year. I can promise you that next year’s competition will be even bigger and even better.”

• Stay tuned to bunkered.co.uk, as details of bunkered Fantasy Golf ’15 will be released early in the New Year.
