Jimmy Walker has revealed details of a conversation between himself and Tiger Woods at Jack Nicklaus’ house on Thursday evening, where Woods said ‘everything thinks I’m dead now’.
The 40-year-old, who hasn’t teed it up in a competition since the 2015 Wyndham Championship back in August, was very much in the public spotlight last week after rumours emerged on social media that there was a setback in his recovery from back surgery – only for Woods to post a video of himself striking a 9-iron in a simulator a day later with the caption, ‘Progressing nicely’.

And at that meeting of potential Ryder Cup players, with captain Davis Love III believing Woods can still make the team, Walker told the Golf Channel a snippet of their conversation, which went like this:
“I talked to him for just a second,” he said. “I said, ‘Wow, you’re standing up, you’re not dead’. He said, ‘I know, everyone thinks I’m dead now’. I said, ‘I’m glad you’re here’, and he said, ‘I wouldn’t miss it’.”

Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg revealed that the video posted by the 14-time major champion was in direct response to the social media rumours but, as of yet, there is still no timetable for Woods’ return to tournament action.
