It’s less than two weeks until golf’s first Netflix series hits the small screens.

“Full Swing,” a first-of-its-kind series that will focus on the PGA Tour’s 2022 season, will air on February 15, and Jordan Spieth has lifted the lid a little on what we can expect, and why he wanted to take part in the series.

The 2015 Masters champion, speaking before the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, said that he hopes the series can open up golf to the same audience as F1’s hugely successful “Drive to Survive” series.

“I’m an F1 fan because of Drive to Survive. I’m one of however many million Americans that it reached and went outside of your typical F1 fan base, which was already massive and global,” Spieth explained.

“250 million members is larger than your typical audience who tunes in to see a round of PGA TOUR golf. So, what an opportunity.”

Spieth went on to talk about how the cameras followed him and Justin Thomas to Southern Hills for a practice round, an event which, of course, Thomas went on to win.

“They went up with us, flew up with us to play the practice round, flew back down,” Spieth said.

“They filmed some content from just a fun, gambling practice round day and 30 mph winds. I mean, it just worked out perfectly. It kind of led to Justin winning the PGA there. So you kind of see that whole story line take place within our episode.”

The 29-year-old went on to explain how he broached the subject of allowing the cameras to follow him to his wife.

“I did, as a smart husband would do, you talk to your wife and say, ‘Hey, we have a 14-month-old.’

“I want to be involved and give access, but also protect kind of how private I keep my private life.

“It was pretty easy the rest of the year to kind of get more and more comfortable, knowing that I could always just be upfront and honest and it was going to be taken the right way.”
