An intriguing week on the DP World Tour lies ahead, with players heading to next year’s Ryder Cup venue for the DS Automobiles Italian Open.
It’s a strong field on the DP World Tour this week, with some of the Europe’s leading lights teeing it up at Marco Simone Country Club for the Italian Open. DS Automobiles began sponsoring the event last year, one of the longest running stops on the circuit.
Much of the contingent from the BMW PGA Championship will be heading straight to Rome, with McIlroy, Fitzpatrick and Hovland all making the journey.
Unsurprisingly, Luke Donald will also be playing and will be joined by two of his vice captains, Thomas Bjørn and Edoardo Molinari in the field.
No doubt they will be on the look out for potential horses for courses, with Donald recently announcing he will be taking six picks to the match next year.
That field includes plenty of Scots, including on-form man Ewen Ferguson, who will be looking to replicate Dean Robertson’s famous Italian Open win back in 1999.
This is the second consecutive year the course has held the event, with Nicolai Højgaard coming out on top in 2021.
It’s a golf course where accurate driving is going to be a big plus. The rough is pretty thick, and you don’t need to go far offline to find some long stuff.
Here’s all the details you need to know for this week…

Adrian Meronk
As you’ll see, there’s not much value with the favourite this week, but Adrian Meronk at 35/1 is decent odds. The Pole has been in steady form this year, and had a good week from the tee box at Wentworth. If he can keep that form going and get the putts rolling in, he could well be in contention on Sunday.
