Xander Schauffele, an Olympic gold medallist, has had one person by his side right through his career.

That woman is Schauffele’s wife Maya Lowe, who has been spotted celebrating with him on course.

Maya Lowe, who uses Schauffele’s surname on Instagram, is a graduate of the University of California, in San Diego.

It was during that time that the pair met, in 2014, despite attending different colleges.

Lowe studied science and public health before doing a Masters degree in healthcare administration.

Schauffele, on the other hand, graduated with a degree in Social Sciences from San Diego State University, while playing golf.

After being together for seven years, the couple got married in Las Vegas in 2021, just one week after the U.S. Open.

Schauffele then made the Scottish Open his first start after marrying his wife and joked about it afterwards.

He said: “No offense to anyone here, but I would not choose a place that rains so much to take my honeymoon.

“It’s been a long time coming. We’ve been together for quite some time and decided to make it public. We’re very happy.”

Lowe, who speaks fluent Japanese, has been seen with Schauffele at several tournaments, and has caddied for him in the par-3 contest at Augusta.

Xander Schauffele’s wife has taken part in her fair share of volunteering over the years.

In 2014, she was a Campus Ambassador for the Peace Corps and volunteered as an operations intern for Project Concern International, a San Diego non-profit organization.

Lowe also volunteered at Planned Parenthood before getting full-time employment with the company.

Born in 1994, Schauffele’s wife is of Japanese descent, while the golfer himself has several relatives who live in the country.

His mother was born in Taiwan, but was raised in Japan, so the couple have spent time together there.

The couple also share two dogs, a French bulldog called Chewie, and another dog called Momo.
