For golfers, it’s the hottest ticket in town; the ultimate ‘Bucket List’ experience.

But just what are your chances of winning The Masters ticket lottery? As it turns out, they’re not good. Not good at all.

Bookies.com has crunched the numbers and determined that the average golf fan, attempting to secure a single-day tournament ticket for the opening men’s major in the year, has around a 0.55% chance of success.

That’s right. Your prospects of joining the patrons at Augusta National Golf Club through the ballot are roughly one in two-hundred.

“We’ve estimated 40,000 patrons per tournament day,” explained a Bookies.com spokesperson, “of which 18,000 are weekly badge holders, leaving 22,000 tickets in the lottery Thursday-Sunday, with roughly two million applicants per day.

“But remember, almost every winner will be buying the maximum request of two daily tickets. That means the actual chances of an applicant winning are split in half, leaving 11,000 winners for 22,000 tickets.

“With four separate drawings of equal odds, two million applicants and 11,000 winners per day, the math looks like this: 11,000/200,000,000 = 0.0055.

“Thus, we believe the odds of winning the Masters lottery for a single-day tournament ticket to be 0.55%.

That leaves one question: how do you get involved in the lottery?

Simple. Anybody with a Masters.com account can apply. You can request up to four tickets per day for Monday to Wednesday, and two tickets per day from Thursday to Sunday.

You can apply for ticket for every day, but you’re only eligible to win one day.

Augusta National Golf Club will also only accept one request per household.

If you’re lucky enough to be drawn, you’ll receive an email with a link to purchase your tickets. A practice round brief will set you back $100, with a daily tournament ticket priced at $140.
