Who is Tom Kim’s coach?

A multiple PGA Tour winner by 21, Tom Kim is undoubtedly one of the hottest prospects in golf, but who is his coach?

Born in Seoul, the South Korean turned professional in 2018 before making a name for himself on the PGA Tour in 2021.

And after a stellar year in 2023, including a T2 finish at The Open, the future looks bright.

Kim’s swing is so good that while he was playing on the Korn Ferry Tour, he became a teaching professional and was based in Australia, the Philippines and Thailand for several years.

But Kim now relies on a veteran swing coach who has experience working with the best golfers in the world, and that man is Cameron McCormick.

Tom Kim’s coach is best known for working with Jordan Spieth. They have been together for the whole of Spieth’s career.

Meanwhile, McCormick and Kim teamed up ahead of The Sentry at the start of 2023, as Kim is based in Dallas, a central location to play on the PGA Tour.

Kim practices out of Dallas National and Trinity Forest, giving him plenty of time to rub elbows with the likes of Spieth and Will Zalatoris.

That appears to be where the connection brewed, with Kim becoming close with the former world No. 1 Spieth.

After his maiden major win at The Masters in 2015, Spieth said of his coach: “I have complete trust in anything he says.

“He’s my swing coach, putting coach, short game coach, mental coach, everything.

“I owe everything on the course to him. He’s a very special teacher. You’re going to see him with a lot of tour players in the future.”

And it turns out Spieth was right, as Kim is now on the road to stardom with McCormick by his side.

Originally from Melbourne, Australia, McCormick moved to the United States as a teenager when he accepted a golf scholarship at Texas Tech University.

At the pinnacle of elite golf, McCormick has become one of the most sought after and respected coaches in golf.

He founded the Altus Performance and serves at the Director of Instruction at the Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Texas.

As well as coaching Spieth, McCormick’s clients have included numerous PGA Tour and LPGA pros, as well as a host of world-ranked amateur and junior amateur players.
