Matt Fitzpatrick eventually prevailed to win the RBC Heritage last night, in what was a dramatic final round on the PGA Tour.
The US Open champion collected the win after beating Jordan Spieth in a three-hole playoff, despite the American having some good chances to close out the tournament.
Spieth and Fitzpatrick got to 17-under-par, one shot better than Patrick Cantlay, who always looked like he was going to have a say in the outcome of the event.

The result should come as no great surprise, such is Fitzpatrick’s affinity with Harbour Town. The 28-year-old used to come to Hilton Head on holiday and he clearly still feels comfortable in South Carolina. The Englishman even has a headcover in the shape of the famous lighthouse that overlooks the 18th hole.
While he probably wasn’t thinking about it as he hit yet another famous 9-iron to close out the tournament, the win made Fitzpatrick a lot richer.
